Small-size jet-powered combat unmanned aircraft systems

The monograph contains a conceptual analysis of the possibility to create the high-speed (up to 800 km/h) and maneuverable small-size jet-powered combat aircrafts with an engine thrust of 10–90 kgf and reduced radar and thermal signature of the aircraft. The classification of unmanned aerial systems (UAV/UAS) is considered, an analysis of the market for mini turbojet engines with a thrust of 10–90 kgf is given. Based on the statistical analysis, the weight, geometric and speed characteristics of the small UAV/UAS were assessed from the point of using the mini turbojet engines with a thrust of 10–90 kgf. The dynamic and altitude-speed characteristics of the basic UAV/UAS with a thrust of 20 kgf are presented. An analysis was carried out of the feasibility of using technologies to reduce radar and thermal signature in the design of small UAVs/UASs. A list of possible operational-tactical tasks for small UAVs/UASs with mini turbojet engines thrust of 10–90 kgf has been formulated. In conclusion, the prospects for the future development of small-size jet-powered UAVs/UASs are considered.
